This was not the first time we joined HOW Design Live. Back in 2015, before the launch of .design, our team attended to tell the attendees to keep their eyes peeled. It seems like they listened. This year, we returned with an actual, live product and it turned out to be a great event for us!
One of the most surprising and exciting developments was that so many attendees had already heard about .design, and better yet, we were given 4 business cards with .design as the primary site or email address listed! One young designer we met had learned about .design from one of the high-profile companies using it, like facebook.design, and immediately registered 4 .design names. Since we were giving away a free year of a .design domain, she naturally registered another one on site.
The knowledge and savviness of the HOW attendees made our job easier. With just a few seconds the average passerby understood what what .design is and why it is perfect for design professionals to use.
We can’t wait until our next conference to continue collecting business cards from designers using .design for their website and email addresses. We’ve decided to trade a .design hoodie for a business card with a .design site or email listed there. So, if you use .design on your business card, keep an eye out for the .design booth at HOW and other industry expos. It may be even more necessary next year, I bet spring in Boston can be cold!
