Oh hey! .gay is officially here.

With the .gay Sunrise period now underway for trademark holders, our new domain is making its way out into the world. In addition to the fortune 500 companies, public figures and organizations currently securing their names, we are thrilled to begin announcing some of our .gay community early adopters.

Our partners at Pink Media -- the company behind the #ILoveGay media brand -- this week became the very first live .gay site in existence...and it’s safe to say the gay internet will never be the same!

“Our entire team is excited to be the first .gay site ever launched!” said Matt Skallerud, President of Pink Media. “We started the #ILoveGay media brand as an extension of how the LGBTQ+ community was already using hashtags on social media, tapping into popular hashtags including #GayMiami, #GaySports, #GayTravel, etc. Here the term ‘gay’ was being used as it always has, representing the full spectrum of the LGBTQ community online. We simply added a ‘little love’ to the mix!”

#iLoveGay is fast becoming one of the dominant LGBTQ media entities on Twitter, engaging and interacting with others in a style and strategy that is similar to how LGBTQ influencers engage with their audiences, while developing a performance history that puts a basic Tweet run through the #ILoveGay network on par with paid advertising on Facebook, mobile apps, banner ads on websites and e-mail campaigns.

As social media has grown over the past 10+ years, there has been an evolution in how this technology has begun to dominate the media landscape, including the LGBTQ world, with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn leading the way. This evolution started with influencers, and now companies, large and small, have become part of this social media marketing mix, leveraging social conversations to their business and competitive advantage.

“Pink Media makes history as the first-ever .gay site activated with ilove.gay now live online, ” said Ray King, Top Level Design CEO. “As a social-first LGBTQ media company, its #ILoveGay brand and mission to usher in a more connected world is perfectly aligned with our vision for the .gay domain.”
